Pilates FAQ

We have tried to answer frequently asked questions but if there is anything else you want to ask please contact us.

At The Pilates Hub, we teach classical/traditional Pilates, following the original system created by Joseph Pilates.

In our classes you don’t need to choose between mat, reformer, tower or chair, you will learn it all!

It’s our aim that you learn a Pilates practice for life; you’ll learn the exercises and the order so you can practice with us and at home.

You’ll progress in a way that suits you and your own goals, so you feel stronger, more flexible and more confident moving.

We have two ways to start your Pilates journey at The Pilates Hub:

Start Strong – This is a more personalised option providing 3 private 1:1 lessons tailored to your body, needs, and goals. It’s the perfect foundation if you’re looking for focused attention or have any injuries, conditions or concerns.  It’s also a good option if you are pre-post natal.

Jump Start – Our signature 3-week beginners course, designed to introduce you to the Pilates method in a supportive small group setting. You’ll learn the fundamentals, build confidence, and feel ready to move into our Level 1 class at the end of the course.

We’d always encourage one of our Intro Offer if you haven’t been to the Pilates Hub before, this is because not all Pilates or Pilates equipment is the same.

That said if you have existing experience and just want to try a class, we’d suggest starting with a Level 1 class. We’re here to help you choose the right way to get started so if you feel like you need more guidance then get in touch.

Wear something comfortable that allows you to move in all directions. Leggings, joggers and shorts are all appropriate but no zips please, as these damage our equipment.

For men, we always suggest longer shorts. We encourage bare feet, but if you prefer to keep your socks on, that’s okay — sticky socks are best, but not better than no socks!

You don’t need to bring anything; we provide all mats and equipment at The Pilates Hub. If you want, bring your water bottle.

We have a maximum of seven per class. You get hands-on attention even in our  group classes.

We are experts in the Pilates method, trained to teach tailored private sessions and we bring that expertise to our small group classes.

The short answer is yes. Many clients come to us with non-specific back or joint pain, or after an injury.

We’ll give you the support and guidance you need to feel confident moving, and offer modifications depending on how you feel on any given day.

If you are currently injured then private lessons are best for you. Let us know before you join a class so we can take good care of you.

If you are pregnant then try our prenatal classes on Saturdays at 11am

Most of our clients come once a week and have a membership to match. Coming twice a week delivers double the benefits and helps you progress faster.

The main thing though is consistency, which is why our memberships secure your preferred weekly or twice-weekly class, but also offer flexibility to swap classes or roll passes forward to suit your life and work.

You can book directly through our website here, or reach out if you’re not sure where to start. We’re happy to help guide you into the right class or beginner option.

Yes you can join our prenatal Pilates class on Saturdays at 11am or alternatively you can try private lessons.

If you are an existing client and have been practicing Pilates with us regularly pre-pregnancy, then yes you can carry on in your usual classes.

Just let us know so we can offer appropriate modifications as your pregnancy progresses. You might also consider our prenatal Pilates class if that feels like a better approach for you personally.

We have a 24-hour cancellation policy for all classes and appointments if you need to cancel or reschedule. This helps us offer your space to someone else and keeps the studio running smoothly. Late cancellations and no-shows are always charged. You can cancel by logging into your Momence account via our website or the Momence app.

Group class memberships have an initial twelve-week contract, with four weeks’ notice to cancel after that. Please see our full T&Cs if you are unsure if membership is the best option for you.

1. Your initial membership contract has a duration of twelve weeks. Payment will be taken on the day your contract begins, and then every 28 days. Please make sure to update your card details if there are any changes to your billing account; a failed payment may result in the immediate termination of services.

2. Contracts run for an initial period of twelve weeks, and cannot be changed or cancelled during this period.  Notice of cancellation must be given at least 28 days before the end of the twelve-week period, or an early termination fee equivalent to one-month’s membership will apply.

3. Contracts will then auto-renew on a 4-weekly rolling basis. If you need to cancel your contract, you must give 28 days’ notice, or an early termination fee of one month’s membership will apply.

4. Please make sure you have secured a spot in your SYS class before signing up for a membership (check with us).  In addition, please note that the schedule is subject to change, and we will make every effort to alert you to upcoming substitutions, cancellations, etc.  Changes to the schedule are not grounds for breaking your contract early, subject to the discretion of the studio.

5. Please remember to cancel your booking online if you will not be attending; the 24-hour cancellation policy applies to all memberships.  Members who consistently late cancel their regular classes will have that booking put under review, especially if there is high demand for that class.  Losing a regular class booking is not grounds for breaking your contract early, subject to the discretion of the studio.

6. If you cannot make your usual class, you need to cancel online with at least 24 hours’ notice to keep the pass.  The pass can then be re-booked, or rolled over to the next billing cycle.  At the end of that next billing cycle any passes that have rolled over will expire.

7. The Pilates Hub is closed for two weeks in the summer and two weeks over Christmas. During these months, you will have extra passes to use.

8. We do not have the facility to pause or freeze memberships.  If you are away unexpectedly, ill, or injured for a prolonged period, please bear this in mind.  Speak to us and we will do our best to help you come up with a plan, or help you decide if you need to give notice on your membership.

9. Please remember that if membership is not the best option for you, you always have the option to pay-as-you-go with flexi passes. These offer the greatest flexibility (but please do note expiry dates on packages).
